Library Mar Gregorios College
The Mar Gregorios College library was established in 2014 to meet the needs of its users. It is a fully automated state-of- the-art library that has adequate holdings in terms of books, journals, other learning materials and ICT facilities which enable our users to acquire information, knowledge and the skills necessary for learning. It plays a key role in facilitating the academic activities of the institution. The library has a seating capacity approximately 50 users. It provides open access to its documents and any member can browse through the collections which are arranged according to the Dewey Decima Classification.
Service
The library is computerized with ‘KOHA’ – Integrated library management software which provides an online library catalogue searching facility. An E-Resource Consortium INFLIBNET is enabled through the N-List Programme which provides e-journals and e-books to the entire academic community. The library provides open access to its documents and any member can browse through the collections which are arranged according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).
General Rules
Silence must be strictly observed in the library
Staff and students must scan their ID Card at the Electronic Check Point
UG Students can borrow a maximum of 1 books at a time and PG Students 3 Books
Books are issued for a maximum period of 7 days after which they can be renewed for 7 days more by bringing the books and ID Card to the library for degree students
Books are issued for a maximum period of 30 days after which they can be renewed for 60 days (two renewal) more by bringing the books and ID Card to the library for PG students
All general books (Novel, Stories , Poems) must be returned to library after one week from the date of issue, All subject books must be returned to library after a semester period for staffs
A fine of Rs.1 will be levied for each day after the due date
Books damaged or lost must be replaced or paid for by the borrower
Do not bring any book or eatables into the library without the permission of the librarian. All the belongings should be kept in the property counter at the entrance
Reference books and Journals will not be lent out
Before leaving the circulation counter, the borrowers shall point out any damage or mutilation on the books they are taking to the librarian. The borrowers will be held responsible for point out any damage or mutilation observed at the time of return. Marking on the books, folding of pages etc. shall be viewed as serious offence.
All final year students have to return the library books and remit their fine before the commencement of their final semester examinations.
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
The library conducts an orientation program for the new comers to create awareness about the resources and services of our college library in the beginning of every academic year. This is the basic information literacy program for our students. The main aim of this programme is to enable the library users to become skilled at finding their needed information and thus foster the feelings of confidence and independence in the information retrieval process.

The library is open on all days except Sundays, second Saturdays and public holidays. It operates from 9.30 AM to 5.00 PM from Monday to Friday & from 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM on Saturday.
